Fun day Monday… Absolutely!

Monday can be a real bummer.

I know most of the time we all dread Mondays.  The day when it hits us (once again) that the job we’re doing isn’t necessarily what we thought we’d be doing.  The day when we question just how much does the job we get paid to do benefit the world.  Or am I the only one who thinks about things like this?  I can’t imagine that I am.

Monday signals the inevitable beginning of a new work week or another week back at school. The glorious two days we call “weekend” come to an abrupt end, and we are thrust back into “the grind” on Monday morning. Deadlines, paperwork, emails, phone calls, and long commutes can sure dampen the day.

I even read an article once that listed statistics regarding heart attacks. The article claimed that more heart attacks happen on Monday than any other day of the week. I believe it.

Monday, for many people, equals stress. Job-related issues seem worse on Monday.

Maybe, just maybe, we should take a new look at the day called Monday.

Perhaps with a new perspective, Monday can be seen as a fresh start rather than an end to fun. Maybe Monday can be the day we turn to for new possibilities and opportunities. We can jolt out of bed on Monday morning energized to start the day. We can tackle projects we didn’t finish the week before. We can make new plans and set new goals. We can look forward to Monday almost like we look forward to the New Year.

Perhaps Monday can be considered “fun day”.

Not convinced?

Me, neither. But I’m willing to give it a shot.

So wherever you are today, whatever you’re doing and whoever you’re doing it with…make your Monday be a fun day!
